Experience an authentic off the beaten path trek route with incredible natural and cultural scenery on our 20 days Kanchenjunga Trek. Travelling towards the isolated regions of eastern Nepal, you get to walk on a very scenic mountain trail filled with rhododendron forests and witness immense cultural diversity as you go past several local villages within this magnificent region. Lastly, see the sparkling stars above you as you lay down to sleep and make a memorable journey in Nepal during your trek.
Situated at the height of 8,586 m, Mt. Kanchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world and is the second highest mountain in Nepal as it is just 300 meters shorter than Mt. Everest. The word Kanchenjunga literally means “Five Treasures of Snow” when translated to the Tibetan language as there are five summit peaks altogether in Kanchenjunga. A trek to see this glorifying mountain takes you on a very arduous journey as it is highly isolated away from the modern-day infrastructures such as transportation. This makes traveling to the eastern regions of Nepal more difficult as it is not widely accessible, hence the one who dares to visit this place can easily see that there are very less number of foreign trekkers in this area if compared to other popular trekking regions of Nepal like Annapurna and Everest regions.
For this reason alone, it is often thought that the Kanchaenjunga Base Camp Trek is one of the best off the beaten treks did in Nepal. Initially flying off to Biratnagar, we head to Taplejung where shall stay for the overnight. From here we make our way towards another indigenous village which is locally referred to as Ghunsa village and is located at a high altitude of 3,415 meters above sea level. Before reaching Ghunsa village on the seventh day, we are scheduled to traverse past through several local villages en-route like Chhirwa, Sekathum, and Gyabla village.
One of the major highlights of our trek includes the cross of Mirgin La Pass which is a high Himalayan pass located on our way to Ramche village and from Ramche, trekkers get a very spectacular view of the south face of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Next, we start descending down to LaliKharkaand then head onward to Suketar airport the following day. Kanchenjunga Trek and Manaslu Trekking are the restricted trekking area in Nepal. From Suketar airport, we shall take a flight back to Kathmandu and officially mark the end of our trek.
